چکیده

Abstract. Aluminum Lithium alloys are recuperating substantial interest from automotive and aerospace industries owing to their extraordinary specific strength as compared conventional aluminum (2xxx, 6xxx, 7xxx) alloys. The goal of the present investigation is study AA 8090 joints produced with unique solid-state welding technique friction stir (FSW). Tool pin profile induces remarkable influence on further plastic deformation during FSW. Therefrom, influences three distinct but constant dynamic area conditioned tool geometries namely, square trapezoidal, hexagonal threaded taper resulting material flow patterns, mechanical properties, microstructure have been studied discussed in detail. FSW joint trapezoidal geometry delivered highest resistance grain refinement almost flawless microstructure.

Experimental Study on the Effect of Welding Parameters and Tool Pin Profiles on Mechanical Properties of the FSW Joints

To optimize the tool geometry (Pin profile) and process parameters for the FSW process. In the present investigation, an attempt has been made to understand the effect of rotational speed, welding speed and there different pin profiles on the nugget zone formation in AA 6063-T4 aluminum alloy. Three different tool pin profiles (tapered cylindrical, tapered square and square) have been used to f...

The effect of tool transverse speed on the properties of aluminum-steel dissimilar joint by friction stir welding

This present study aimed to create an Al6061-St52 dissimilar joint and investigate the effect of the transverse speed by the friction stir welding process. Welding aluminum to steel is rugged by fusion methods because of the formation of brittle intermetallic compounds (IMCs). Therefore, to designate optimal parameters, acceptable IMC thickness, and mechanical properties determined. This resear...

Fatigue Strength Estimation Based on Local Mechanical Properties for Aluminum Alloy FSW Joints

Overall fatigue strengths and hardness distributions of the aluminum alloy similar and dissimilar friction stir welding (FSW) joints were determined. The local fatigue strengths as well as local tensile strengths were also obtained by using small round bar specimens extracted from specific locations, such as the stir zone, heat affected zone, and base metal. It was found from the results that f...
